Bmw High dvd Nav dynamic routing

Evening All,

I was just playing with my DVD nav and saw I have dynamic routing when i select using the nav to get from point A to B. However does dynamic routing work if im just driving along without inputting a destination?

I assume dynamic routing when ive selected a destination is that it takes the traffic messages and routes me to avoid the traffic, hence dynamic routing? correct me if im wrong please?

Correct, dynamic routing only operates when on an active route.......or at least that's the only time I've seen it in action.  It can pick some really odd routes too! 

At least the E53 allows you to choose whether you want to accept the diversion.  The later system just does it!  Mine tried to take me the other way round London on the M25 when going to Crawley last weekend.....a big (and expensive) diversion!
