BMW Recall

Post by Ricko » Fri Oct 01, 2010 10:13 am

On Sky news - BMW recalling cars...........

The recall involves BMW 5, 6 and 7 Series vehicles powered by V8 and V12 engines from the 2002-2010 model years and some Rolls-Royce Phantom cars from the 2003-2010 model years.

Wonder if this includes the X5

Wonder if this would be the 535i that I gave to my brother... I'll have a look on the Sky News Website and see if I can find a link.

Must relate to the engine and the X5 shares most if not all engine compnents in the V8 form.

That's not good news at all, especially if it's due to brake issues...

I wouldn't be that worried, its not shown its head in nearly 9 years so its probably just a precautionary recall.

I have passed the link to my brother already to get him to call the helpline.

Info from the us bmw site,

"Vehicles covered by the recall include: 2002-2008 BMW 745i/Li, 750i/Li and 760i/Li; 2007-2008 BMW Alpina B7; 2004-2010 BMW 645i and 650i; and 2004-2010 BMW 545i and 550i. The recall also includes 2003-2010 Rolls Royce Phantom models. The automaker said the Rolls-Royce Ghost is not affected."

so dont think it will affect the X

Sky headlines on multiscreen shows a red E53 (4.6is ?) accompnaying the footage though no talk of X5 being recalled....yet.

Not bothered if I alter find my V8 affected if no accidents yet.............IMO it's good BMW are doing this, (despite not knowing if a hand was forced or otherwise).

I rang the helpline after seeing the story to see if it affected the X models but the guy said it didn't.
