Faulty HIDs from HIDs Direct
Faulty HIDs from HIDs Direct
Anyone had a set of Hids from said company which have been faulty?
I connected one up which was good. Connected the second which worked for 10 seconds then went off. I unplugged/plugged the ballast box and they come on then off again. Did this a few times then got fed up and took them off completely. They are the cambus pro.
Anyone have an idea what's up?

Re: Faulty HIDs from HIDs Direct
Hmm sounds like a faulty ballast. Have you tried the faulty ballast on the side that was working to just prove its the ballast? If faulty then just call up hids direct and get a replacement sorted. Sure they will be fine about it.

Re: Faulty HIDs from HIDs Direct
Thats what I thought. I'll nip down in the morning to swap it.

Did you buy the 55w versions that "Horizon" linked to you?

No, I was advised on the 35W 6000's. Should I have gone for the 55W? Don't know what the difference is realy.

Interested to know in what way the wiring was different as from the many kits I've seen and fitted (from different sources) they've always been the same.

The hidsdirect wanted a permanent live feed from the battery to the ballasts. The batteries for the transit are under the drivers seat and i didnt want to have to do any wiring through the bulkhead. The hids4u ones just plug into the headlight loom

Have to admit I've never seen that requirement. All the kits personally seen have always been identical fitment where the positive/negative feed is taken from the existing xbulb connections back through the grommit to the ballast and back again to the xenon bulb.
Was that a long time ago or recently?
I just can't justify hids4u cost for comparative kits.

Re: Faulty HIDs from HIDs Direct
HI, just an update.
Went to Hids Direct today and explained about the fault. The lad tested the ballast and said it was ok. I said that it was an intermittent problem then. He was going to give me a new ballast but I insisted on a full new kit. This was not a problem. Anyway, fitted them today and they are really good. The live feed is from the original bulb connector as I have seen on other kits. Trying them out tonight in the dark.
In conclusion, good customer service and no faces pulled by the staff.
Collected in person and charged me £55 for the kit. (Canbus Pro 35W 6000K)

Excellent news. Glad it's all sorted and a decent price as anymore and it's too expensive.

Re: Faulty HIDs from HIDs Direct
Well went for a drive and I am well happy with the lights. Amazing difference from the standard halogen. The only problem now is my full beam is a horrible orange. What do I need for my high beam? Surely not another hid kit :'(

[/quote]you can get a pair of these (not H3 though)

They are bright and look close to the same colour of 5000K hid.
I've used them in my pacifica and they looked great.
