rear bench comfort

Post by Aaron_P85 » Fri Nov 09, 2012 4:54 pm

Hi all,

Just looking at e53s on Ebay and looking at the rear bench (where your bum sits not your back), it looks very hard and flat, compared to an E39 which is what a x5 is inside, they are two very different rear benches... would I, for argument sake, be able to take the rear bench from an E39 into the X5?

Not an expert but would be surprised if you could swap them out.  Looks can be deceiving, the pic of the X5 could be of a relatively unused bench and the E39, well used.  I never had any complaints from anyone in the back of the X5s.

I can confirm the rear bench in an x5 being a comfortable place to be. I have had a couple of journeys there and not been uncomfprtable. Also welcome to here from a fellow bmw5 member.

I have had passengers in mine for a 650 mile round trip, and they say its very comfortable.
I had a shogun 3.2 and that was rearly uncomfortable on the rear bench.
I always drive anyway so I dont sit in the rear seats.

I've done plenty I miles with rear passengers and no-one has ever said it is not comfortable. Until you physically try it you won't know. As for swapping over......nope.

Not that bad - and no they can't be swapped.

It does come completely out though - if you want to try and soften it up in some way. Two clips either side at the base and then pull up and outwards. Then jut unbolt the seat belt housing.
