Hi,
I don't know if this helps, but I had a problem with my boot lock and thought that it would need replacing. However, when I took it apart I found that it was only the spring that had broken. Once this was repaired it was fine again.

Hi,
2003 pre-facelift.

If I remember correctly the mechanism just clips together.

Getting to it is more awkward. The interior trim around the window is fiddly and you have to remove the rear wiper assembly to get access to the latch mechanism. I also attached a length of wire to the emergency boot release so that I could feed it back into position after the repair.

Lock different. 04 is a bit heavier and more complicated. Easy enough to remove though .

Still lookin , but as you may imagine i am no longer in any hurry as I can close the tailgate by pressing the key or the bootlock switch on the tailgate causing the solenoid to pull the boot closed.
