Re: what petrol?
i run the wifes x5 4.4i on shell 95ron seeing as it is lpg converted and only uses petrol until warm, however my e34 525i sport has been on a rolling road at the same place twice, with a chip and cold air induction kit it made 210bhp on shell 95ron and 214bhp run on shell v power. the rolling road days were a month apart and after the first i ran the tank almost empty then filled up solely on v power for the next month before the next rolling road session. both sessions were similar temps.
I also fine that it revs smoother and when i drive normally i get more mpg maybe 2 mpg more. The most important one for me though is on v power I get much better emissions readings come mot time.

what petrol?
As said v power is the best, but an increase in £9 for a full tank of the stuff.
I have just started to use it now, a shell petrol station is now only 2 miles away. Before that I would have had to do a 15 miles round trip for the stuff.
What V power does
1 increase power only if your ECU can advance timing.
2 increase mpg.
3 runs cleaner.
I can confirm all above in a scooby turbo, but was mapped purely for V power.

Re: what petrol?
Until recently I was running my 4.4i on Shell V-Power but I couldn't feel the difference performance wise so didn't see any benefit over Shell Fuel-Save.........ironically the 6 cylinder Z3 ( on standard map) runs noticeably better on the V-Power.

Re: what petrol?
My Golf V5 runs noticeably better on VPower and you can feel the extra power. Also run my X on VPower diesel.

It want a compliment ) but if you can tell you have a max of 5 bhp then well done to you, it was more for the OP,
as in if he was to use V power don't expect 0-60 to drop or be able to get any more speed. It's just a better fuel to use, but at a cost of £9 a tank.

AA Came out drained the tank filled with diesel and away he went.......apparently its only really bad if you do it more than 2 or 3 times.
Just as he was towed into the petrol garage another guy in a van walked over to say he had just filled his van with petrol.
Apparently happens every 3 1/2 minutes or something like that. 150,000 people a year!

Didn't realise it was quite as often an occurrence as that. Wow.
