Halogen Projectors with HID's?

Post by PhilUK » Fri Dec 14, 2012 10:15 am

I have Depo halogen projectors on my X and am not over the moon with the dipped beam. Can I add HID's to these lights or would I need to upgrade the light units to Xenon projectors.

Sure I read somewhere that you can't use HID's in halogen light units as they don't have a "cut off" for the beam but does this only apply to regular halogen reflector light units or is it the same for halogen projectors?

Halogen Projectors with HID's?

I've used the hid kit on a E39  with depo halogen projector set up. No issues with it. In fact we had 3 cars with the same set up. The only thing you would have to use H7 kit instead of D2S bulb for them.
I have the depo projectors on my X5 as well. I ordered the hid approved one and i was able to swap my oe xenon set up which was D2S bulbs.

I don't see why it wouldn't. Make sure to get the metal base H7 kit. That 's what should be in there. And i would not go over 5000k temp this way you have the nice bright white light with hint of blue and good lumens to light up the road.
