Which battery??

Post by awj85 » Thu Dec 27, 2012 1:34 pm

Taken your advice and looking at the Bosch range batteries.  However, on several websites its coming up the S3 is the compatable one for the 2001 4.4 V8?

S5 is compatible - just the stupid website that can't keep up. I have one in mine.

S3, 4 & 5 are all the same dimensions. 90, 95 and 100 aH respectively and 3, 4 or 5 years warranty.

Go ECP and S5. Search on this forum and you should find a compatible discount code (unless they are currently running offers).

I believe the S5 product code on ECP may be 444770198

Think the ECP code is BATTERY15 for 15% off, but I don't know when it runs out.

apparantly the s5 still only has a 4 year guarantee so ought to get the s4 as its slightly cheaper.  btw battery 15 is no longer valid  ::)

Normally MGRORG25 gets you 25% off at ECP....so if that's better than current discounts and you can wait then perhaps keep your powder dry for those things "not discounted heaavily in the sale"

Taken from an ECP reply as to why a code doesn't work

Hi Guys,

Just a heads up - our current sale let's you save up to 45% off across our entire product range without the need of a promo code..

The forum discount has therefore been discontinued during this period and will resume once the sale comes to an end i.e. 2nd Jan..

This is what I have in mine http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/c/Audi_ ... 0&cc5_1001

I did use the code mbclub25 to get 25% off, but its no longer working. A quick Google should find you a code.

I recently brought http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/c/BMW_X ... 4a7&000020 as was having lots of battery issues and this fixed it.  Dont get a lower spec battery just to save a few pounds as you will only wish you had get a bigger one when you still have power issues.

The 019 S5 has gone up to £130 at ECP now !

It's only £103 at carparts4less though and they've got £15 off when you spend over £100, so £88 delivered.

New Bosch S5 just arrived in post, is it a simple change over or do I need to do any programming to match the battery to the car ?

Straight swap in the E53.  It's only the later models that need to have the battery coded - and the coding is only so that the car can monitor the 'charging state' of the battery.

Remember to attach the vent hose and plug the unused hole (there should be two options on the S5).
