replacing oil breather/separator every third service
replacing oil breather/separator every third service
Can someone settle a dispute please - seekign clarification on "every third service" does this mean service 1 and service 3, or service 1 and service 4
I'm thinking the latter

Re: replacing oil breather/separator every third service
to my way of thinking, every service means service 1,2,3,4,5 etc
every second service would mean 1,3,5,7,9etc
so every third service should be 1,4,7,10 etc

Re: replacing oil breather/separator every third service
hmmm!
now youve got me thinking. :noexpression:
actually ive changed my mind and think it should be service 3,6,9 etc as you wouldnt touch the breather/ separator on the 1st service anyway. ???
and thus, every second service would be now, 2,4,6,8 etc ::)

Change it once to the newer vortex type, and never have to change again.

Re: replacing oil breather/separator every third service
I was hoping someone would say that! My 04 was showing to have the new type vortex breather, turned out to be the old one. Jeegnesh has an 05 and that too had the old type.
Wife's Dec 05 1-Series has the new type - put it back in and won't change it!
While you're there, change the air filter too.

Re: replacing oil breather/separator every third service
yes, yes, yes, all very good gentlemen, but you aren't answering the original question!
Sanj I appreciate you wouldn't do it on the first service I simply mean that as the starting point for counting. So..........back to the question - service 1 and 3 or service 1 and 4 as being 'every third service' .......?

Re: replacing oil breather/separator every third service
Most people wish they had changed it the service before the turbo seals blew out, and the engine revved itself to death
