Range rover evoque

Post by shadrack » Tue May 14, 2013 7:51 pm

spent an hour driving a top spec range rover evoque on sunday on and off road, what can I say very impressed! I thought the sd4 engine was very sprightly for the size, the gear shift was smooth as silk (auto) paddle shift for playing, we even had it on the beach!  very impressed I want one!

There is a guy on the Z4forum who has just bought one & he sings its praises massively, they are proving very popular & rightly so by the sounds of it.

my dads been given it by landrover until his new landrover turns up so its been tested to the full lol, but seriously great car and he only faults it on the fact on the motorway its doin the same mpg as his disco 4 did so thought it might be better been smaller engine and car.

We looked at buying one last year but unfortunately we received terrible service at the dealership, I am sure they aren't all like that (i hope so) but it put us off, the mrs still loves them & perhaps wishes now we had tried somewhere else as they seem to be a really good motor.

Nice looking car IMO and I liked the interior, though it's a little cramped compared with the E70.  The all new RR sport also looks nice... ;)

I was surprised at how big inside they are for the size of the exterior, I admit not as big as the vastness of an e70, but then its really only x1/x3 money depending on spec

Looks like I am the odd one out then .
I think its pig ugly, looks like an elephant sat on the back of it and given land Rovers reliability / quality index I would not touch one with yours.
Even if you gave me a free one I would imediately sell it and buy something else.
My old man gave me 2 bits of advice :
1 . Never buy anything with a Land Rover badge or an MG badge.
&
2 . Spend lots of money on beds and shoes. If you are not in one you are in the other.

Good advice.

I await the tirade,

Regards,

Nat.

No tirade from me.......I think it's awful!  And as for the Beckham Version, what were Tata thinking?

Gimme an LR 110 anyday...... ;)

If I am honest this always worried me & since I have owned a TVR for six years anything built in England doesn't give me much confidence, my dad owns a Range rover sport the previous model & that has one of the worst reliability records going, maybe we had a lucky escape when we looked into buying an evoque.

Looks ok, was surprised how underwhelmed I was when I saw it in the flesh. Nice enough but zero presence IMHO.

Wouldn't buy one on general principle - what awful fuel economy.

Mrs had her heart set on one of these last year and it was massively disappointing.

It was boring to drive the (diesel was slow, the petrol characterless

They have become (as expected) massively common (mainly by former TT owners as I understand it - as we were) and I think there time will pass

It looks ok with the correct spec and the inside is a nice place to be but back was very cramped.

Our spec was looking at about £45k

£45k for a revamped Freelander!!  Ouch.  Personally I don't think it should carry the Range Rover moniker.
