injector coding

Post by nav19580 » Sun Jun 23, 2013 11:09 pm

hi there,

never registered to a forum before, but was after some help. ive got a 2008 x5 3.0 sd. about 6 months ago experienced injector problem. the car started to cut off if accelerating hard. if I switched off the engine and restarted it was fine, if I gradually accelerated it was fine, but if push too hard on peddle it would cut out.

plugged in scanner and came up with code 4450 injector no5. swapped injector 5 with 2 to distinguish if wiring fault or injector, and the fault travelled to injector/cylinder 2 which confirmed it was a faulty injector. however when I placed injector 5 into 2 it coded up fine, but when injector 2 went to 5 it would not code up. the car started up fine but had the same fault in cylinder in 2. so I bought a new injector.

the injector 2 was put back into cylinder 2 and 5 was replaced with a new injector. 2 coded back up but cylinder/injector 5 wont code up yet the car starts and drives fine.

so just used the vehicle as there was no difference with it being coded or not.

bad luck struck and timing chain broke recently so got a replacement engine. new engine came complete with all ancillaries inc injectors so put complete unit into car. 5000 miles later car has developed same fault, keeps cutting off. plugged in scanner and 4450 injector 5.
ive got all spare parts from old engine inc all injectors and the new injector I bought. swapped injector 5 with new injector, once again it will not code up, yet vehicle is now starting up and drives fine.

do I put down to coincidence and use the car, or is the non coding of injector 5 causing problem

please can anybody shed any light on this or have experienced similar problems
