Head unit gone dim???

Post by Johnny-p » Wed Sep 11, 2013 1:54 pm

Hi all

I took my rcm out on Sunday to be upgraded by baris at carphonics and on Monday my head unit has gone dim..

It still works fine sat nav/phone obc etc and can still see everything but the colour is very muted and dull...

Does the rcm control this in any way and will it return to normal once reconnected ????

Cheers

John

Just a quick update...

Re connected my repaired RCM and the screen stayed dim  >:(

However after driving home from work I turned off the ignition, realised I had forgotten to pop to the shop started her up again and hey presto screen is lit as normal :)

Thinking about it when I removed the RCM it wasn't until I had made a couple of journeys that it went dim- coincidence....????

Anyhoo whatever the reason I'm a happy chappie not having to trawl ebay etc for a new head unit!!!!

Most likely the ribbon cable in the screen unit. Have a quick search x555 has posted with pics. Clean up the connectors if it happens again.
