I too have fitted coil springs, (to my X5 E53), and have searched high and low for which menu you need to find coding for air suspension using 1.4.0, but to my frustration the nearest i have come is go into the check menu and untick the air suspension from the check module!  but i am unable to find the check menu so i too could do with a little help.

From memory, it's something like go into the LCM and go to coding data, which should give you a pop up with check control listed. Click this an uncheck the air suspension one and click write.

All you are doing is stopping the check control from displaying on the dash. It will still store the errors.

finally found a laptop with XP on it lol I had the ignition on 2 and couldn't find the untick bit on LCM but when I put the ignition on the 1st click the box's appeared for me to untick self levelling suspension. Finding the laptop with XP was harder then the fix lol Thanks for the input RAJ, have just put an order in for a new 40d X6 so she will be off in a few weeks anyway now lol

Remember that for those with more up to date versions of Windows 7 such as Ultimate, you can get XP for free from Microsoft and run it in a Virtual Machine.

Might help those now struggling to find that aged but very much still popular OS.

I've got it working on W7 64bit and I'm as computer illiterate as they come. I posted a link to step by step instruction from E46 fanatics on here in one of the threads.

Could be a failing battery.  With the weather turning colder a number of folks are going to discover their batteries are approaching end of life (4 - 6 years) or at low charge through little use/short journeys.

That's one possibility eliminated then.  Are you using it frequently and for journeys lasting 20 minutes or so, or more?  If not then your charge state may be too low.

Another cause which can generate spurious alarming warning lights is putting in the key and starting the car without waiting for all the warning lights to go through their sequence.  That few seconds pause allows all the computers (there can be up to 70 in an E53) to boot up correctly and report back they are good to go.

Mine stays off but the self level susp inactive comes on after about 20 minutes of driving, double checked the box is un ticked, no other messages just this one. If it's unticked how can it still show up ? Is there something else I need to un check ?
