Hi,

Regarding back lights, this was a known issue and BMW replaced them under warranty. Its well known and documented issue back in the day.
Repair is  to replace them .

Regards,

Nat.

To extent for sure, clean the connectors to the bulb holders, solder joints if you should have to (shouldn't) and you should be done. Next...

+2

Had my rear left fail on me at the weekend..

Took the cluster out and low and behold there was corrosion on one of the contact points, bit of wet n dry and all good again

Don't get too despondent fella..

I bought mine with LOTS of hidden faults and touch wood I'm at the end-for the moment!!

When it is running good it's all worth it,even if it's only just for the driving view 8)

when my nearside was so pitted that the springyness of the holder wouldn't suffice I had to resort to filling in the pit with solder. It was a little pit but deep enough to make a poor (to the computer) connection

Loadsa flux...blob of solder (hard to heat) and bob's you auntie after a sand......been that way for 2 years now

Easy peasy just 3 bolts to undo.

Remember to put a rag down the hole to stop any bolts getting lost ;)

"Noise from behind heater control when car is turned off" - does this stop if you wait a while?

If not:-

1. check if it is the blower running at low speed (this can be caused by the final stage resistor which you say you have replaced - with new?) - to do this, pull the 50 amp blower fuse - if the noise stops, leave the fuse out for now to save your battery and go to 2. below - if not, then its something else

2. the blower may be running with the ignition off due to incompatible coding of the IHKA unit typically caused by someone having tried, by the wrong technique, to enable park heating on a UK 3.0D - to check this, look and see if "aux heating" appears on the MID/OBD - if so, remove the option with a scanner and re-start the IHKA unit software

3. pull the IHKA 7.5 and 10 amp fuses , lock the car and wait for it to go to sleep (if it does, then that suggests that IHKA coding was the indeed the issue). Leave the car for a couple of hours, then re-install the fuses and check if all is well.
