Well, here we go again, 1 month on after replacing the carrier with one from ebay the handle failed, without looking I decided to bite the bullet and order a bmw part, so weather today was best of a bad week so changed within the hour, when I stripped the trim etc off I noticed it was just the ball on the end of the cable had came off the bracket, well not liking the distance with the fitting of the old bracket due to the gap with the lock I decided to change the carrier anyway, so all done and dusted within the hour and the door handle works fine. All back together and same problem as before, lock the car then unlock using remote, then the door will not open from inside or out, after several attempts I got it eventually to open but I am now thinking maybe the Bowden cable is stretched? Is this quite common? Not easy to see inside...... Reason I think it could be this cable as door works fine with door card off but then put it on and door will not open, when I have the door card off I use small pliers to pull the Bowden cable which maybe gives it that little bit more pull?
Nightmare..... Don't know if it is just my car but it seems to very hit&miss with this and am loosing confidence in my car.. :(

Well back at it this morning and I put a little packer in the door handle to take up any slack from the Bowden cable with what I suspected being stretched, and Sorted!  :)
Well hopefully, time will tell but I will leave it for a week or so and if its ok I may purchase myself a new cable although it is not easy to see inside the door to attach.

If i remember correctly you can apply a twist to the bowden cable to remove some slack..
Admittedly is a PITA to do and clip on though.....
If things were meant to be easy, then I will soon complicate them....
Please note...
Anything I say is only from my personal experience and knowledge..
I don't assume to know everything, and know there is a lot I don't know..
But then I could be talking bollox.. O:-)
