TV module query

Post by Stevejspm » Sun Feb 16, 2014 11:05 am

After reading the topic started by SimOx it's got me thinking about my original unit. I too have TV option but not digital (analogue only). Can I upgrade mine by changing the boot module? Is it plug & play? Or will I have to change the front screen unit aswell?

Hi mate, I think you would also have to change the aerial just like everyone had to do in the houses, but I think the head-unit may be OK.

Nothing other than a TV module change.  Straight plug & play.  Must be a module for the UK/EU not the US.

The aerial covers all the same channels (21-68).  Domestic aerials are highly directional and 'channel grouped' to match the local TV transmitter, but this doesn't apply to the amplified system in the cars.

The last version issued is this one:  65509147139

Beware, Dealers want £1100 + a surcharge for them! and that's a discounted price.  Do not buy one made before late 2004.

Item 8 onwards on this page from  Realoem gives you all the part numbers that you might come across.  I believe all of these are the hybrid type.

Check the part number against Realoem (or your alternate favourite) and see what vehicles the module was also used in.

The last one shows E46, E83, E83N, E85, E53.
