X5 E53 vehicle theft issues

Post by X5-D-Sport » Sun Apr 05, 2015 12:12 pm

Just as a curio..

I saw a documentary the other day which hinted that the E53 is an easy steal...

I understand there is some sensor that can be hacked, under a wheel arch  - the thieves know its there - we need to know what we can move to another location, and the whole vehicle unlocked & started... and other things which make these cars easy to steal...

Any one know the truth behind the security of our beloved X5's and any thing we can do to ensure they remain where we leave them ?

Regards to all

not really e53 I would say to be honest.  Its more so e70 upwards, and the sensor you talk of is more likely the OBD2 port which allows a hack for cartridge style keys, not blades such as e53 etc.

Not gonna drive off in an E53 unless they have a set of keys.
