Service Reset Tool OBD port

Post by X5-D-Sport » Fri Aug 07, 2015 6:32 pm

Hello again people,

Recently I bought a service reset OBD plug-in gizmo, about the size of a match box, has 3 buttons on it & an LED next to each....
Plug it in to the E53 Diesel, to in theory reset the service markers on the cluster, but the device does a lot of flashing & sod-all else...

Is there a procedure to reset the service bar legends in the bottom left of the instrument cluster... ?
The gadget is supposed to talk to all OBD enabled BMWs.... but I'm not having any joy with it... any one else used one of these ??

You may need to:-
Turn car off.
Plug in doobrey.
Turn car on to 2nd position (is just before start)
Do the reset you want(only one at a time,)
Turn car off
Unplug doobrey....

That was how I had to do on one of mine but may or may not work for yours..
