Hi all,
This has probably been covered here somewhere but I can't find what I'm after.
Just looked at my software version in the Set Screen, SW 4-1/03.
Can anyone tell me if this is old or the latest or somewhere in between?
I'm probably going to treat myself to an Intravee soon and I believe the latest software version is required for some features to work.
Also, any ideas on cost for update if required?

Can you confirm that version number?
4-1/03 isn't listed. 4-1/30 is though. The last 'official' version is 4-1/00 (Version 32) so you may have a non-OEM build in place (such as one with speed cameras).
You will need to find a supplier of non-OEM builds and discussion of such is banned in the forum due to piracy regulations!
It's easy to do, and you have to follow the instructions to the letter or you risk 'bricking' your drive. With an OEM software CD it takes less than 5 mins.
New map discs are currently available on fleabay from BMW Direct for £84
that's quite a discount and suggests the map updates on DVD may be about to end from official suppliers at least?

Thanks for the info. I think you're right about non OEM as it does have speed cameras on. However, when you select that option on, the language changes. I'm sure I've seen that mentioned either on here or somewhere else.
Do you know if it is possible to change the software without a map update?

It's a 'feature' of those updates, regardless of when issued! Turn the cameras off and you go French.
Yes you can change the software without changing the disc. The map disc is just that, mapping data, address data, poor postcode data (BMWs fault for not properly invoking 7-digit postcode support - UK is the only country using it), and for the errr 'aftermarket' discs an amended POI and voice file. The software just knows how to read it.

Not too bothered about maps at the moment as I find my tom tom better. (that needs an update, I bought it but can't update it as my laptop died and this tablet won't run the program!! It would be no fun if everything was simple lol)

Dealers have software discs and might even change it for free, or loan you the disc in their car park....
