Tyre Pressure

Post by Olliefrom83 » Wed Jan 13, 2016 1:45 pm

Hi guys

I had new rear tyres fitted yesterday Dunlop sport max gt 315/35 R20
The garage filled the tyre pressure and upon giving all the tyres a check today the rears are running at 2.7bar!
Is this correct, it's normally just me in the car, and then a few days a week I do the school run with my 4 children in the car. What's the correct pressure as the door jam is confusing and shows two different size rear tyres with two different pressures, one 2.7 and the other 2.2

Cheers

Ollie

I wouldn't relying on garage filling the tyres, I usually correct it afterwards - 2.7 even for 315 seems a little high.

Door card should be easy to read, if I recall correctly 315 should be at 2.4 for 'not fully loaded' and possibly 2.6 fully loaded (5 ppl + luggage).

Can check my X5 when I get back home.

Cheers warsi and jonsteele
I will have another look at the door card
Jonsteele, doesn't 2.2 for the rear seem a little low? How does yours handle on that setup?

Cheers

I thought that and double, doubled checked. No issues with handling.

2.2 bar is fine all round.  You only need more in the rear if carrying a load.  BMW try to maintain an approx 50:50 weight ratio front:rear which is one reason the pressures are common.
:ant: Never anthropomorphise computers. They hate that.
