Bonnet Hinges - do they need lube?

Post by chubbs » Tue Mar 08, 2016 7:42 am

Sorry, another noob question coming up...

My 370z has similar hinges to the X5. I know that one or two 370z owners have had issues with a hinge seizing up through lack of lube (I love that word). This has resulted in a buckling of the bonnet and big repair bills.

Has anyone ever experienced this on an X5 bonnet? Incidentally, I've already lubed mine up, just in case.

In these days of the nylon bush, we don't lube enough, do we?

Best wishes,

The Noob with the Lube

I give mine a quick squirt of Silicon spray lube.  It's less likely to damage anything plastic, which oil based lubes might.  Have done for years.
:ant: Never anthropomorphise computers. They hate that.
