Pulling to the left.

Post by Richard137 » Sun Mar 27, 2016 10:30 pm

Here's hoping you friendly chaps/chapesses can help me.
I currently have (and will have for a very long time!) a E53 2006 3.0d Sport and it feels to be pulling slightly to the left, there are no strange noises nor rattles and I have checked tyre pressures.
What else do I need to check for please?

Might be worth checking wheel alignment and/or tracking. Is it pulling all of the time it under braking?

Its quite hard to explain as it only slightly pulls and not all the time, but yes, more noticeable on braking as I had pads changed last week, I think I also have more noticeable outer tread wear on one side also.

Uneven tread wear definitely a pointer towards tracking - and they are quite common - issues.

Make sure you are on level ground as these big wheels can fool you with the crown of the road!  :'(

That's what might be the problem as it feels worse on one particular road.

If/When you get the tracking checked make sure the person doing it knows about the way the X5 is setup. The rears should have a noticeable "Camber" (cant remember about the fronts), when I had mine checked the guy who did it said he had found a fair few setup wrong leading to poor road handling
