Hi guys, I have a question. Has anyone heard of BG244 ? I have just heard a friend who has used it. Now I would like to know what others think ?

Yes ive used it. BG make a range of products. There is a fuel cleaner, a diesel version and a petrol version, to clean up injectors etc. There is an engine oil flush (search for my post titled Have you flushed) and an oil additive which as far as I can tell adds a teflon like coating. My car, a 2004 E53 3.0D sport, was running a little lumpy when cold. The diagnosis was sticky fuel injectors. On the advice of a mechanic friend, I tried some BG fuel cleaner. At £20 or so there was nothing to lose if it didnt work and a lot to gain. It seemed to do the trick. The car idles more smoothly and seems more responsive, although I am aware these products contain cetane enhancers to increase the burn temperature to burn off all the crap, so the perceived power increase and responsiveness may come from that. Im told you should chuck it in the tank once every quarter or so. Ive only done it once so far but plan to do it again.
What was your friend's verdict?

have also used dealers additive £10 per tin per fill

I guess the OP has to decide why he wants t use either product. If more power then the power stops when there is no additive in the tank, so you have to keep using it. The 'power' comes from increasing the octane and burn temp and Im not convinced that is ok for long term use. Cheaper and better probably to get Jason to do a remap
OR
use it for the cleaning properties which i did and it seemed to work.

Its more as Colin says to clean the system out. My X5 does not get driven hard maybe I should once in a while.
