Aux heater outside temp sensor location

Post by marinaman » Mon Mar 13, 2017 12:57 am

Hello all,
My first post on this forum, had a Sharan with the Eberspacher heater, similar set up, now got X5d with Webasto.
Managed to enable the aux heat on the V1.4.0 software, now, the heater will start. the pump is ticking and seems to get going, then simply switches off after couple mins. Logs a fault code each time "flame out".
im wondering if its a similar unit and a glow plug can simply be changed, that was the most common cause of fail on the VW units. i found a site selling overhaul kit with burner, gaskets and glow at a high £200,
That was similar in that it worked below 10c, Bmw seem to have 5c, to avoid this you could simply bridge the exterior temp sensor to fool the unit so it would run when told to by the owner by means of a simple on off switch.
So does anyone know where this sensor is, i cant seems to find it anywhere or any description of what it looks like
Thanks
