fixed so many faults ,.. now the key fob,...got to laugh !

Post by jonnyivy » Tue Mar 28, 2017 7:57 pm

Hehe,... the list of things I've fixed recently on the X5 , but at least they are fixed,..... gearbox,..starter, glow plugs and module,.. battery,... parking sensors,... wet floor,.. jammed rear power window,...pan sunroof,.CD auto-changer,....angel eye bulb,......hehe the list goes on.....  thought things were looking up , then the wife goes out to take the car to work and the key wont open the door remotely !!!... I just laughed with her,...what next ??..  I've tried the sync process on youtube but it still wont work.... is it a good idea to try to open it up and fit a new fob battery ???
Stumped as to what I could try next,.... any suggestions please ??

One of my diamond type fobs was playing up so I sent it off to a guy on EBay and had it back within the week, new micro switches and battery. Now it works flawlessly £20

Hah,...now when you get out of the car for 5 mins then return the radio/ CD volume will not continue from where it was left....it always returned to silent after it has been switched off !!!  Any connection between the two ??? both went like this at same time !!

I have volume issues.... mainly from my Ex-Wife ha ha...

When the camera alerts sing their noise, some times it is so loud that its scary & makes me jump, other times the alerts are barely audible.  It may be down the the last known music system volume, & the car remembers this, just to scare the pants off me I guess...

No connection, but theses cars have so many electrical gremlins and they are often sorted by disconnecting the car battery for a minimum of 30 mins. That won't fix your fob, but might, and I do stress might, fix the volume issue. also many folk start their car before all the lights on the dash have gone out and that can cause gremlins too. Wait. Always wait. Until the lights go out

Hi Smee,

Totally agree, these machines like to runt heir diagnostics & take a gulp before being started.
Mine throws all sorts of un-wonderful errors if I rush the starting.

As Smee says, let all the little lights go out before engaging the starter..

Yup,...totally agree with the pause before cranking,...even got the wife into the habit now too,....  sorted the fob,...it was a dead battery,.... gently cut it open and soldered in another battery,... all go again,... and the radio ??... no idea what caused it but its working normal again....
