Changing side step to sill cover
Hi Guy's,
I've just bought an E70 but don't want the side step. Can it be changed to the sill cover instead?
Thanks,

You may wish to ask in the e70 forum, as I've not got a clue about them, thus linger here in the e53!
2005 (55 plate) x5 3.0d sport, auto trans, nav tv thingy, but no dsp.
Under a turbo swap presently (fingers crossed it fixes her!)

Have a look at Realoem with the last 7 of your VIN to get the part numbers. I think the answer is almost certainly yes you can (applies to E53 and E70).

Re: Changing side step to sill cover
Hope this is not seen as hijacking the thread, but its side step related on a E53 X5,mine is a Le-Mans version on a 56 plate,i am not removing mine as i personally like them but the problem that i have is these are factory fitted step made of alloy i think and have these i also think rubber anti-slip buttons on the top of the side step but i have noticed that one of these rubber button things on each side of the car they are missing, would it be fair to assume that these are just pushed into the side step ?? then this leads on to my last question can you buy these rubber button things or what they are called individually or a pack or say 100 so that one can replace them again.
Re: Changing side step to sill cover
you can get the rubber buttons on ebay or someone said the dealer sold them even cheaper . one mad man wanted £8 and post for one on Ebay !!!
