PDC problem not resolved by main dealer.

Post by Waka » Thu Mar 03, 2011 3:15 pm

Bit of a long story so bear with me...

My X5 was hit by third party while she parking, on front nearside corner (not badly, grazed the bumper and pushed the PDC sensor in a bit).

Her insurance paid for local main dealer to fix and they seemed to do a good job. They proudly gave me a card saying they would guarantee their work for 3 years. Front bumper looked immaculate but pdc didn't work when I got home (have to parallel park so noticed it straight away).

Back in to main dealer who said they would 'reset the diagnostics' (?). They phoned me at the end of the day (dropped car in at 9am) and said it was working but they want to keep the car overnight to check the car the next morning. Collected car and bodyshop person said it was working but gave me a ' fault memory list' printout listing, amongst a host of other things, the 2 centre rear pdc sensors. he said they were working but were 'weak'. Get home, sure enough, not working :headbang:

Spoke to bodyshop person this afternoon who isn't interested in investigating further. He basically accused me of trying to get them or third party insurer to pay for replacing 2 rear pdcs! I told him I have checked all the sensors and none of them are clicking which is the situation we were in the day before yesterday. He said 2 rear failing ones could cause that. Really? I asked him if he had checked diagnostics when he got the car and he said he had and they were 'fine'.

Not happy with this but not sure what to do next.

Thanks for listening.

Good but sad story.

Your contract is with Insurer so go that way, its not possible to prove sensors were not working before bump so ask them to sort out your super helpful (not) dealer.

I think i would go that way or ........ push the dealer to honour the 3 year guarantee of all work is covered hopeing that the repair should have been for all items fingers crossed.
