wrong thermostat

Post by marinaman » Thu Aug 03, 2017 5:31 pm

thought i would swop thermo as only running around 65c
bought off ebay from good seller,  correct details according to chassis etc
spent 1hr 30 faffing to get the bolts out, cursing the design of course  :))

got new one out.  oh dear  was not heard.  one bolt hole in different place,    looking at it, seems the actual thermostat is only held in the housing by a spring lug on each side so think i will try swopping.

Why would they do this.  Also .  anyone else just swopped the thermo and kept same housing ?

udate,    have swopped the thermo over and seem to fit tight,  put in a pan of water to test,  does anyone know how far the thermo actually opens .  seems to have a gap of around 8mm when open to allow the water through. soon as the water cools even slightly it starts to close up again.
