Service

Post by Silverfox58 » Sun Aug 27, 2017 12:55 pm

Hi all just serviced my car all good but how on earth do you change the front diff oil
Is my front diff part of the sump as I have a metal  plate  covering the sump and to take that of you have to undo the antiroll ball
Is thus right or am I missing  something

Nope that sounds about right!  These cars have lots of shields (aerodynamic improvers) underneath - the X6 is even worse! - and it is part of the 'don't let Owners service their own cars' approach by BMW (and many other manufacturers) so they make even more money out of us.... >:(
:ant: Never anthropomorphise computers. They hate that.

You have to take off the plastic tray, and the metal reinforcement plate- the bolts for the reinforcement plate are not re-useable- you need new ones from BMW - they are £70 odd quid, if you message Cotswold BMW on the forum you get a bit of discount, lots of people do re-use them but they are stretch bolts and you're not supposed to - your choice!
