Folding mirrors

Hi all
My mirrors fold in but don't stay there, I have taken the microswitch out and the arm was flat , I've seen on YouTube that it has
A fold in it, can I buy one of them or I will have to try and bend it, what else stops the mirrors from folding back.

I dont think your problem is the arm, from what you've said if that were the case the motor would be running all the time trying to force the mirror back....which doesn't make sense....are both sides doing it?,,if so...sounds more like a problem with the switch control button...the one you press to operate the mirrors sticking or its give up the ghost...hard to do but try to give it a blast with air from a can or WD40

Hi Martin it works it's just trying to bend it right when I don't know what it looks like in the first place

The micro switches are the same each side. I know it would be a PITA but if you uncover the other side that will let you see what it should look like

Bmw do not stock the switch as a part item. I researched this.....the switches were available but only as bulk order from the supplier.
Prior discussed on thread links below albeit nothing useful really evolved re sourcing.

Thanks for clarifying your post.
As per my post (7) above...."nothing really evolved re sourcing"
You could always try to make some calls or send emails. The part was available in bulk..It would simply be a case of asking the manufacturer to pass your contact details to one of their wholesaler customers with a request the wholesaler buyer contacts you direct in their capacity as a retailer.

Just found the following info for you after 30 mins of Google and forum searching (credit to rodgethedodge on xoutpost). The info was posted within last 6 months
"I know this is an old thread but I sourced my switch from RS Components Ltd. I expect they would ship to the US.
SPDT-NO/NC Roller Lever Microswitch, 3 A @ 250 V ac
RS Stock No. 472-8291
Mfr. Part No. V4NSYRUL
Brand Saia-Burgess
They are £5.72 each
£6.86 with VAT for 1 to 49 units + free shipping in the UK
You still have to swap over the lever.
Connect Blue wire to Blue wire in harness and
Red wire to the white/yellow wire in harness
Hope this info helps somebody"
NOTE THAT AUTHOR STATES YOU STILL HAVE TO SWAP OVER THE LEVER.
.....If he is referring to the spring(s) that bend this remains an unresolved issue. I say this as pics above indicate same issue I had on mine.....the metal lever/spring being distorted out of shape !!!!
Please can I ask that if anyone sources switches &/or spring/levers that they update this thread please .....thank you.

Oh and good luck

Don’t suppose anyone has a wiring diagram for the folding mirrors. One of mine when pressed for up goes left. My own fault. I could just play around with the pins but if someone has a wiring diagram life would be so much easier.
