Centre bore enlargement.

I have a fabulous set of style 435s in storage that only fit the X6 or X5M of course.

I'd like the rear pair of these to be able to fit an E70 should I pick one up at the right price. Does anyone know of a business who undertakes this work? I've tried the more obvious wheel refurb companies in these parts, Rimtec and Lepsons but without success.

It needs to be a business in the south really or logistics would doubtless make it prohibitively expensive.

Any help would be much appreciated.

I've had something similar done many, many years ago (Sunbeam Lotus wheels centre bores enlarged to fit on mk5 Cortina hubs). You want an engineering firm with a large lathe. I don't suppose a wheel refurb business would have the sort of tools required for actually milling the centre bore to the size you want.

I don't doubt you are correct, i approached the companies named to see if they knew of anyone capable. So far nil results

As already said really, a decent engineering company will sort them out for you, usually find them tucked away on the industrial estates.

Any one ever changed the hubs to X6 ? surely this would be a better solution ? or wheel spacer adapters .

That would be the ideal way to do it, but even using second-hand parts (assuming you can find them), isn't going to be cheap - and you wouldn't want to use second-hand bearings in any case.

That will cause problems with wheel offset. They would need to be at least 10mm thick.

A hub change would be too costly and restrictive in its own way.

I'll endeavour to seek out a suitable machine shop to modify the wheels.

Found a suitable company but they want a bare rim sent/delivered to assess before pricing. They won't even offer an indicative cost, so could be £20 cash or???

In all fairness they're not going to price it until they've seen it, and you can also assess whether you want them to do the job for you at the same time.

Even if they want £50/rim it's cheaper than the alternatives............ If you're dead-set on having those particular rims on your car.

Just a thought, how are you letting them know the bore size required, taking a rim that already fits for them to measure? or a hub?

It would have been a simple instruction, enlarge the 72.6 to 74.1.

But, I'm not willing to pay to have rubber removed just to have rims assessed. I'll either sell 'em or put them on a holiday E53..... should i ever get one

I've decided an E70 is more than i need for such use anyway.
