Not sure that you can put them on the OEM E53 Wheels but i'm sure someone can confirm. I think that the internals of the rim are a different profile.

I would consider (if you can put the tyres on) before buying, the increased road noise and possible performance changes on to a car with a suspension setup that isn't there to accommodate RFT's.

They will fit as the only difference is the fact the tyre walls are reinforced.

Personally though the ride will be stiff and I mean really stiff on them. Most peeps I know have all replaced run flats for normal as they hate the ride on the RF's.

Thanks for the replies, just needed to know that they will fit on the OEM wheels,i've got them at a really good price £212 for a pair of Bridgestones, didn't want to go down the budget route. The cars nearly finished now, just need to fit my new Arnott air springs on the front and do a service and then she's good to go !! Can't wait to drive it at last !!

I've got RFT's fitted to our E53 on its OEM 19" rims. Came free with the 19"s for my X6 which were to be for Winter use, and it seemed a shame to throw 4 brand new tyres away.

The fitter told me that these days there are no longer any special requirements to hold the bead in place (which I think was the issue with the early types which might have also had a plastic block clamped inside the rim to stop the tyre collapsing) as the sidewalls were now reinforced? I think that early type of RFT has all but disappeared now. You will find the ride a bit harder too. It's noticeably so on our E53.

I would not go with run flats at all - at any cost! harsh ride, increased chances of cracked wheels and twitchy ride due to feeling all sorts of bumps in the road that you wouldn't normally feel.

That's speaking from experience. Pay the extra.....RFT tyres in some cases have become ALOT cheaper than they were simply because the demand has dropped - as people have wised up!

Sorry for the long delay. Missed this one

It's a set of Continental Contact SSR's in the correct sizes for the OEM 19" rims.

The ride is noticeably different from the Michelin Diamaris that were on there but not badly so. And certainly better than that of the E46 330Cd convertible with it's 18" rims and thin rubber band tyres :D. Handling wise the E53 absolutely fine wet or dry.
