..and another "Newbie Hello!"

Post by maxxuk » Tue May 22, 2012 12:43 pm

Hi everyone,

After hijacking brendy's post a few weeks ago (sorry brendy- hope your transmission is sorted now?) in a desperate bid to get to the bottom of my problems with my own auto transmission, and finding this forum most useful and member really helpful, I thought it was about time to introduce myself ;)

I bought a X5 4.4i in November last year (build 2001 with 90k miles) after a long winded story around having to sell my treasured Terrano II 2.7td (London LEZ, living just within the M25- thanks TfL! :fuelfire: ) I had a BMW before and so based on good experience, I decided to get one of the many earlier models which are now affordable even to someone who feeds a family on a single income.

Anyway- I don't want to bore you with my transmission issues, just wanted to say so much- my car is with Jason at BW Auto Repairs right now who I chose to sort out my auto transmission issues above all others I looked at and spoke to, based on the overwhelmingly positive feedback he and his crew have earned not only on this, but also on many other forums across the web. I feel confident that my car is in safe hands with Jason, and that he will put an end to my 4 weeks' no car (which is the longest ever since I turned 21 some decades ago  ) I will start a new thread once I get the car back, to consolidate all experience and information I have gathered over the last 4 weeks, hoping that some of it may be useful and help some other poor soul in their desperation :)

Thanks to all those who have helped me out with information and advice thus far, I think the X5 is a brilliant car, good looking (well, horses for courses as everyone knows- but I like it), spacious (enough for a family of 5), well built and equipped and last not least powerful enough to be even fun to drive- yet as everything more complex than a turd, little things break here and there, and this forum filled with a wealth of experience by a great spirited community makes it a hell of a lot easier to cope with all those little niggles which inevitably come your way, some day :)

I will look to post a pic as soon as I have worked out how to....

Cheers,

Peter

Sorry to hear about your transmission issues, but you are definitely in good hands with Jason.

What colour is that? Can't remember seeing one like that on the road before.

Sanj did a How to for piccies to help us all out (he's a little star really.. )
