X5 3.0 Diesel 2003 - where can I get a MID (Multi Information Display)

HELP

I own a 2003 X5 3.0 Diesel and for some reason the MID (Multi Info Display) seems to have died. I rang my local Maian dealer and seemed to be having a laugh at £600 for a new one.

I have rung 12 different breakers yards and none of the have one. I have looked on eBay and there doesn't seem to be one at a sensible price.

Can anyone recommend either a breaker that may have one, or know of someone that has one for sale, or does anyone know a specialist who could possibly fix it ( it's not just the pixels that have died)

I wonder if E39 5 series mid would fit.

I think it might, I've heard mixed storeys - mine is part number # 65.82-6 914 606 - do you know of one for sale?

Part no# just needs checking as that part number doesn't come up as a valid one on Realoem against a 2003 E53. It is more likely to be 65.80-6 914 606. The last three digits determine the internal functions available - that one is for the telephone variant.

Note: That part is only listed against the E53 3.0/4.4/4.6/4.8 types and no other BMWs.

Around £650 inc VAT using the $852.89 list price, depending on the actual exchange rate. Some on eBay though.

Hi, I've just checked the part number on the back of my unit and it is 65.82-6 914 606 - does anyone know if that's interchangeable with the 65.80-6 914 606 tha "X5Sport" refers too??

Interesting. It's a valid number but not listed any longer on the Realoem website.......not helpful!!

If you have a look at Realoem.com and put in the last 7 characters of your VIN (in the 'Serial Number' box) it will pull up your exact version. The MID is under the Audio section. There's an option to use Picture Drill Down which can be easier to use.

I'm as puzzled as you - both part numbers work on the web so Realoem may have an error......or BMW have done summat odd again. Or it's actually a different market version? Realoem only holds USA & Europe part numbers.

Well, in that case do you think I'm safe looking for either an 80 or 82 ?

All the same, I still need some guidance as to where I can find a used one at a sensible price.....

From what I can see doing searches against the part number you have, every one on eBay is for a 1996 or later 5 series rather than the one for an E53 which has the single digit difference.

Was this MID in the car when you bought it? I'm just wondering if someone has already had a problem in the past and replaced it with an earlier (and cheaper) version? I'm assuming it was working, but has now died.

Hi my pixels on my 2001 E53 3.0d where faulty. I replaced it with a brand new one of a E39 with the same functions and it worked perfect and was the exact same fit as the old one. I have since upgraded to a Dyanvain D99 android unit so my MID is for sale, ita only 6 months old and as new condition if any interest.
