Hi, can anyone tell me where the EWS module is located on my car?.
I have a facelift 2004 4.4.
After searching around, i have an idea its behind the glove box but i want to be sure before i starting pulling it apart.
Also is there a special procedure to removing the glove box?
Thanks

Re: EWS module location
An interesting first post, and forgive the caution....but exactly why are you looking for the EWS Module?
Normally new members introduce themselves in the Newbies Section and tell us about them and their ride(s), possibly even including a picture....
With the EWS being such an important piece of hardware I'm sure you can understand a slight 'hesitance' after this question with you being previously unknown on the forum.

Re: EWS module location
I can see it wasn't a very good first post :-[
Anyway, I will start at the beginning.
Long story short. I bought my 2004 4.4i sport a month ago, and after 4 days the car wouldn't start, it would just make a clicking sound.
I started a topic about it on the bimmerfest forums and people suggested various things.
It turned out to be a faulty dme, so the dealership I bought the car from (not a BMW dealership) changed the dme, ews, door lock and ignition barrel.
I only got 1 key, so my problem is that I cannot go to a BMW dealership and buy a new key, as the used dme and ews in my car are tied to a different vin.
My only option is to program the keys myself. I am about to purchase an AK90 to do the job, and I'm just doing a bit of prior research as to the location of the ews module.
Here is my original post on the bimmerfest forum http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/showth ... p?t=630312
I am planning on putting together a tutorial for anyone else in my situation or for people who don't fancy paying £140 for a key from a dealership.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Re: EWS module location
Thanks for 2nd post.
Personally I don't know the technical answer.
Not alleging foul play, however, some will be concerned re the public sharing of information that could potentially assist future thieves.
In any case feel free to post in newbie into section maybe with some pics if so motivated.
