Hoorah....another air filter and breather done on the wifes diesel

Post by storminmike » Mon Nov 19, 2012 9:24 pm

Well it took me 2 hours and sh!t loads of plastic on the patio to do mine last summer.

But the wife was complaining about a bit of smoke on hers.....what the hell it was cold but

1 30 mins....more plastic again and hers is now changed. No less a bleedin pain than mine with that soddin bolt at the back....and the twistin turnin of the filter shroud. Thank god that won't be happenin again for a while.

That back bolt nearly had me foxed again (one of those springy extensions would have done wonders) so I developed a technique to reach.

Park the car near the fence....lean into the engine.....the lift legs up and push/surf toward the windscreen....nice and comfy lying on th engine and no broken back reaching :)) :))

Oh and left arm under the washer bottle and right arm over the top......job done...bolt done and undone

Back brakes still need doing and I haven't solved the suspension "crack" yet but onwards anyway

It's amusing how much effort is required just to change diesel filter....ludicrous :))
