TV Option on Wide Screen

Post by Dodge » Thu Dec 20, 2012 2:59 pm

Ive just bought my first X5 although I have been in the BMW fold for many years now.

It has the wide screen Sat Nav but it does not show the TV option in the menu screen.

Is it a case of, if the TV receiver was not fitted the otion will not show but if I retro fit say a DVD or digital receiver it will then show as active?

If this is the case what would be the simplest way of me getting DVD or digital receiver working?

Hi & Welcome...... :)

Which version have you got?  Year, model etc......

Most likely there is no receiver fitted.  They were an expensive option I seem to remember.  Can't help with the wiring etc as not done the job.  There's a few on here that have though.

New 'Analogue/Digital' Receivers from BMW are...... :o

Can get them on fleabay - but make certain it's a 2005 model year (Oct 2004 production) or later or no Freeview! - for better prices.

You'll need some coding done to 'enable' the option on the car, but that should be straightforward.

Welcome to the forum.

As X5Sport says - the receiver may not be fitted. Do a quick search for TV Module and you'll get pictures showing location, etc.

Most likely not fitted or not working.

Need to have one really - to get that all important AV channel up. You could buy a cheaper analogue one and then code it to the car (may work without). And then rig up one of these.

Hi and  :hi:,  I can't add any more to the TV question but like most on here, would love to see pics of your new ride.

Welcome aboard.

You won't have it fitted and hence the option has never been coded and you can't see it on the menu.

You can get one fitted and get it coded accordingly but as X5Sport has stated it needs to be a digi one from the later models or get an aftermarket one as linked by Sanj.

If an OE one is required to enable it as an interface to the screen then Sanj has my old one at the mo which may be of use.
