I’ve not been on here for some time now as my X5 has been performing impeccably.
Everything was tickety boo until Christmas Day and Boxing Day – when it lashed it down incessantly for two days.
Loading the boot up on the 27th something compelled me to look in the right cargo compartment in the boot. 1 inch of very clean water sitting in the bottom!

Now, it’s worth noting that when I bought the X two years ago it had 8 inches of snow on the top and I had found water in the bottom of this compartment.
In that instance I found that the wiring loom rubber at the top of the tailgate was hanging loose (circled green below). Refitted it and had no trouble with water again – or so I thought!

2 years water free and the rain this Christmas was clearly too much.
Water had collected in the base of the welled area again (inch deep) and the little carpeted shelf above it (Circled below) was sopping wet.

Water was also dripping slowly off the foam sound proofing marked in the picture below.

The wiring loom rubber is firmly in place - so I scoured the internet for other answers.
It seems that the rear sunroof drains can cause problems. They exit beside each of the wiring loom rubbers at the top of the hatch back (Circled red above) and can get blocked or even detach inside the headlining – eek!
Also, some forums mention water ingress from the rear light seals and the rear quarter panel window.
So my question is – has anyone else had this problem and managed to solve it??
Is the rear sunrood drain hose a nightmare to get to? Headlining pull?
I’ve run a hose all over the car, but nothing. It’s still dry now. Maybe that's it for the next two years!
