Aftermarket head unit - Basic fitment instruction and wire identities

Post by shy7g » Thu Jan 17, 2013 2:01 pm

Hi to all
I have purchased an aftermarket touch screen head unit and a Conversion Extension Lead to go in my E53. The strip down / out of the existing unit and surrounding interior panels  has been down with ease, although there are a few questions regarding the installation as there were no basic instructions/ explanations included with the product.
My queries are:-
1. Do the antennas (aerials) need to be positioned in any particular location i.e. as far back as poss. from head unit etc etc....
2.  There are 4 wires (see photo), (WHITE, BLACK, YELLOW and WHITE/BLACK) that are part of the extension lead that are not insulated and therefore I assume they require attaching to some other wires, ANY IDEAS WHAT TO??

Hi all
went for an aftermarket unit off Ebay, after contacting several former customers to see what they thought of the company and the product.
Head unit looks stock and has all the necessaries.
So far can't complain

My guess would be that the yellow or black one would be the one that is suPposed to go to the handbrake to stop you from watching tv on the move but you can just put it the stereo chassis to bypass that and another for an amp remote or electric antenna or all of them are for the steering  controls just a guess
