By default no, which is why the exhaust tips in the diesels point at the road (see I didn't forget eh Sanj ;) ).  The E53 is EU3 approved only.

It is possible to fit one in the event that your CAT fails though.  BMW do a swap over kit should you want to go down that route.  Fitting one will not change your VED rate though.... :(

Considering how DPF's are universally despised I would think that retro fit kit is not one of BMW's best sellers....especially if there is no financial advantage.

They are fitted to all later cars though.....got one on the X6 and Mini.  X6 did its 'Regen' cycle the other day in the petrol station.  The hot air from the blowers kept me nice and warm whilst filling up.  :D

It did however occur to me though that a red hot exhaust system in a petrol station might not be such a great idea.  The fans run to stop the engine bay overheating apparently..... ;)
