A friend of mine who has a 56 plate x3 3 litre deisel has been told by two BMW dealerships that he must change all 4 tyres even though only the fronts are worn out. Apparrently the tracking is effected? I had an audi a4 quattro and never did this although I must say I was unimpressed by the tyre wear, is this correct will I have to do this on my x5 3d o6 plate?
thanks

Re: tyres
Not sure the tracking will be thrown that badly, if much at all.
In theory you should change all four at once in order to keep the transmission loads the same because of the different rolling diameter, but how vital this really is might well be open to debate.
BMW will often choose to tell you the worst case as they make more money out of it.......typical dealer trick.
I know with my X5 it wore all four evenly so always had them changed as a set. My X6 is also wearing all four evenly so far.
