Do you have the speed camera alerts switched on now? I had this trouble about a month ago and that is what was doing it. When I bought the car it had an ebay special nav disc in it and I believe this is a common fault with copied sat nav discs. Try switching off the camera alerts.

Do you mind me asking, where you got the scanner from ? Is it easy to use ?

Hi Ant.....got mine from
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/310249608189? ... 1439.l2649
I would say its fairly easy to use. Ive changed a couple of things like audible sound when you lock car and most importantly...enabled Aux heating.
There are tons more things you can do, but i dont want to get too involved and mess something up, like the other day i was playing with it and all of a sudden i get the self leveling suspension error message come up. I was like omg what have i done ?? Anyway i done a rescan then took it for a drive and the message hasnt been back since. The same happened with the air bag light !!! There seem to be tons of threads about the scanner, so you can learn alot more off them than me. deffo worth having tho mate.

Its a rare, expensive option on the petrols, although the iS models, which you seem to have, were the more likely ones to have had all the options boxes ticked when ordered.
It would show up on the nav screen if you had the heating option, if not it just shows vent. And a quick look under the bonnet would confirm - the Webasto sits towards the rear of the engine compartment on the passenger side in my 4.8.
The scanners are readily available on ebay although I bought mine from

I dont think (actually pretty sure) I dont have the webasto unit.
So does anyone know what use Aux Vent is ? I dont mean "its not much use", I mean what was BMW's idea for it to be included ?

Aux Vent allowed owners to run the fans a few minutes before going home time to cool the interior down on warm days. You set a start time and 'cool' air is pushed around the car to remove the possibly oven warm interior temp.

That makes sense now, easy when you think about it
Heat for the winter, and air for the summer, Can it be included with the air-con to really cool the car, or is that asking too much ??

That needs the engine running to drive the AC compressor.

The reason its not much use is because there is no real purpose in pushing hot air around with fans in a closed space anyway, it is not going to cool the interior down....... aux heating option makes sense, but the aux vent not really......
