Unlocking Precision: Delve into the World of Needle Roller Bearings

MODERATOR - I’m going to leave this for a while. It’s blatant advertising and the link takes to a bearing supplier rather than learning much about bearings. If there’s any more of this then I’ll get the ban hammer out.

ULEZ: Which similar car to replace E53 3.0d Sport

If you are looking at E53 size electric then the iX3 is probably the closest size wise. I looked at one before the i4 but with an X6 didn’t need two that size and the iX3 is RWD only for now. I’m not sure that any 3.0i E53 (and they are very rare) or V8 version will meet the extended ULEZ requiremen...

I’m the same (in terms of giving up, and no it’s not that far off for me either!). Having a younger wife means I have a chauffeuse (if that’s a word!), but don’t tell her :D

I’m not sure the development is the issue, the fuel itself is significantly more expensive to make and capacity isn’t there. Currently production worldwide is 240k barrels a day but 100M barrels is needed. The cost of scaling up is higher than the shift to EVs, but they are an option. Again, these a...

That’s coz us tractor drivers can’t use it……but it’s a good point. It has been very quiet on that front.

I think (but might be wrong) that the current challenge with Green Fuels such as synthetic petrol is the cost of actually making them. Large parts of the world run in Ethanol but although that burns clean, its emissions are worse - never mind needing acres of land to grow the ‘producer’ crops. Most ...

BMWs don’t like engaging below 20mph unless you have Traffic Jam Assist which works down to zero.

Pretty soon we’ll only need 3-speed boxes, 1st, 2nd and R.

With a blanket 20mph limit being propsed for Wales, and i read this morning unspecified numbers of English towns are contemplating the same, there will no place or point in 'spirited' driving. I also read of a so called harsh breaking camera being considered. This apprently detects sudden decerarat...

Paddle shift

Just so you are aware, on the X6 when in Sport mode, using the paddles will shift the car into Manual mode. In ‘Auto’ it will do a temporary shift into whatever gear you wanted and then revert to Auto again after a short delay. On mine as long as the engine is not too cold, it will not decide to dro...

Auto Light Switch operation

The only thing that I can think of is the dimmer perhaps? The iDrive may also have additional lighting settings. After that you might need diagnostics to check the Lighting Control Module (LCM) as that controls pretty much all lighting settings and actions. Factory or aftermarket towbar? If OEM then...

Auto Light Switch operation

:hi: Sidelights only in all of our BMWs since 2004 have been on the light switch ‘sidelight’ setting. The ‘auto’ light settings should only bring the headlights (plus side/taillights) on when needed. Sidelights only have never been switched by auto light control, only manual. All mine have had eithe...

Fuel smell

There is a fuel vent valve on the front right cylinder head (as you look at the engine) has an inlet and outlet pipe plus an electrical plug. The valve is cycled by the ECU to vent the tank fumes into the inlet manifold. Check one of those pipes isn’t disconnected from the valve or got holes. Also ...
