Sounds to me likely you need a new battery, trans fail safe always pops up with low voltage normally caused by a failing battery, the belt is tensioned by a pulley tensioner so when its knackered it will basically break and not slip as they use to in the old days.

New battery fitted five months ago, second one in less 14months.. must be not the battery..

Are you sure your starter motor is not pulling excess current and screwing your batteries? Was a well known issue with one brand of starter, I got a Bosch exchange unit from ECP for about £140 I think.
If you’re changing belts and you may as well - get Continental I was told - so I did!

Starter motor well worth a look. Very common issue in cars made around the time your was. Both my E53 and E46 from 2004/5 had to be done. I bought a Bosch one from ECP too.
Never anthropomorphise computers. They hate that.

You need to check voltages on the battery when running/charging and after it has been left overnight. It could be a power drain on the system.
