[quote=""x555""]I had time tonight to take it apart again and take a couple of pics.Pics are not the best quality as it was dark out and bloody cold too so i didn't hand around
Good news is there are no springs

just the press button/selector and the plastic trim....
prize the selector button out using a small flat headed screwdriver or similar after puting the gear stick/shifter in drive (this gives you mare room to get the driver in

)
This is what it looks like when out
as you can see there is a small metal bar which moves up and down when the button is pressed. This raises the plastic shaft which lets you select each position.
When the press button/selector is out then the plastic trim part will slide upwards and off to be worked on. If its been on a while it will be snug in there but will slide up once the button is removed.
the trim with plastic clips...
After the respray to put it back together the button/selector must go back in first and the metal bar must line up and slot into the hole in the shaft....oo err misus
here is a pic of the groove/hole in the plastic shaft...
once again not the best pics but awkward to take where it

but hopefully you can see what i mean.
Line the hole up facing forward and then push the selector button back into place (it will click back into place when seated correctly) then slide the plastic trim back down onto the gear stick and job done.
To take it off/on takes about 2mins once done before. Very simple and great once done....like new again

You know I'd comletely forgotten about this thread and forgot to say thanks as you'd added some pictures
I'd like to ask just to clear up is this the order to do it?
1) This can be done without completly ripping the knob out of the console?
2) You put it in drive then prize the button out?
3) Slide the offending piece out for spraying? I there a particular way of prying it out given the locking tags on the side I see?
4) Push the button back in into the knob? Is this the scary....I can't drive my car bit?
5) Slide painted bit down and secure
I'd have to ask if the piece goes back in last (5) unless I've got it wrong then why wont it come out that way without removing the button?
Thanks
Mike
