AE LED Upgrade

Post by jaynana » Wed Feb 27, 2013 8:19 pm

thought of finally doing the upgrade, now that they're working as DLRs.

i know this has been done many times. what model would you recommend pls?

1. HIDS-Direct
2. HIDS4U
3. Convert2Xenon

can go upto 10W... i know that its the colour temperature that is important. hids4u says their's is 7000K. others don't specify.

Also i believe its a straight swap. TIS shows as below. only one bulb per side for both AE rings? i thought there would be 2 bulbs/side - one for each ring?

thx

Piece of cake to change - one bulb/LED each side.

As for colour/temp/wattage, no idea!

They'll all be much the same tbh even the extra wattage ones. Not enough power hike to make a real visible difference. Changin is very straight forward and is one per side.

Most LEDs are well above 5,000K so it just depends whose LEDs they actually use.

As said, 5 min job.  One lamp as it uses a light pipe to get the rings lit.

thanks all,

its a done deal, hids direct, just did a google and picked up a 5% discount code as well.

these are supposedly CREE LEDs which i think are market leaders, 7000k, 10W.

Hi

you may find when citing the power steering reservoir on n/side is a bit in the way best solution is to undo the 3 bolts makes access a lot easier.

not as bright as i expected tbh..

amazing even distribution throughout the rings with just one spot of a light source really..

As others have noted, they look great but the brightness needs to improve - which steadily over the years and new generations of LEDs it slowly is.
