Battery drain which chargers ?

Post by sid10 » Tue Nov 05, 2013 9:24 pm

Battery drains when left a few days can I plug in a charger to keep topped up ?
Via the cigarette lighter socket ?
The jumping points on the car ?
Or removing the battery every time ?
Which chargers are the best to use ?
It is a 54 plate 3.0 d sport , changed the battery 6 months ago to Bosch 100 amp , is there something I can check that maybe draining battery as this seems to be a common problem ? Dealer says it is the starter but the battery change cured the problem only started now the weather has changed again !
Is it a common problem on the e70 model ?
Thanks in advance !

Something like CTEK unit will do the job.  You can connect it to the points under the bonnet (BMWs preferred location).  It also has a battery conditioning function and can be left connected and running if you wish.

A few of us on here have one and the OEM charger is just a rebadged CTEK.  I use mine to keep the stored E46 battery in good nick.

Sometimes there are some good deals, especially at this time of year.
