Aero Wiper Blades

Post by jeegnesh » Sat Jun 02, 2012 10:46 am

I bought some aero wiper blades from fleabay but the longer 24" blade (drivers) loses contact in the middle, the 22" and rear work great, also bought a set for my Boxster and they work superbly. The seller did send me a replacement but same problem.

So I'd still like aero style blade can anyone recommend ones they are using and know work well please.

Aero Wiper Blades

Post by X5Driver » Sat Jun 02, 2012 11:08 am

I have just got the same from eBay for X5 and the discovery and exactly the same. All 3 on disco fine, rear and passenger on X fine but drivers side leaves middle bit unwiped. He is sending out another set for the X but don't think it will work. I'm wondering if it's to do with the little stabiliser bracket on the arm. They should have thought about this though if it is a problem

May try Bosch next. Other thing is the fixing point bracket is huge!

Is it a case of 'tweaking' the wiper arm slightly to alter the angles and see if that works?

i think the spring on the OEM arm not strong enough to push the aero blades down on the windscreen. i had the same issue and tossed them away and got bosch ones from eurocarparts for £6 each

There is a little plastic guide on the wiper arm about half way down that you have to cut about 10mm off it then clears the wiper and stops it lifting
It worked on mine when I had the same problem

That little plastic guide pulls off to leave an even smaller metal tang. It just looks wrong on my beautiful X. Probably Chinese wipers so designed for that X lookalikey off topgear where they wouldn't give a stuff about my little tang phobia

I've got bosch aero flatblades and never had a non-contact problem.

are these aero flat blades as mine does not have this, it's quite literally just the rubber blade.

Think I may just bite the bullet and order the Bosch ones.

The plastic guide is on the existing wiper arm on your car and because the aero wipers have a lower profile it touches the blade as the wiper moves across the screen and lifts the centre of the wiper
At least that was what was happening on my car
